Ahhhh...it was refreshing to read this ...Mr. Hacko,<br />Ahhhh...it was refreshing to read this article, as I think it was very insightful and cuts to the core watchmaking today. That is, some companies 'get it', and some are only in it for the almighty dollar/yen/pound/euro. The ones that truly understand, will receive the hard-earned money from everyday people that understand and enjoy watches. The 'purists' will continue to pursue overly complicated pieces that are horrifically expensive to maintain, and as you say, are frankly the brainchild a businessman, not a watchmaker. I often scratch my head at the myriad of movements that are complex, for complexity sake. Me, I've owned a ton of great watches from many great manufacturers, but as I evolve in this hobby, I too think a movement like the 2894 is a win-win for the consumer-collector and watchmaker alike. Too bad there isn't more out there, and too bad there isn't more watchmakers like yourself speaking truth to power! Thanks again!Douglas M. - USAnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3597008840604173435.post-87912163786145080942014-09-04T03:14:36.690+10:002014-09-04T03:14:36.690+10:00Hi really good article, just had a one question.. ...Hi really good article, just had a one question.. what is the thickness of this movement, the modular movement does seem like a brilliant idea i just wonder if it makes it rather large.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3597008840604173435.post-89730477094145134412014-08-29T10:10:39.865+10:002014-08-29T10:10:39.865+10:00Genius Nick :) I would love to read his reviews fo...Genius Nick :) I would love to read his reviews for chuckles.DKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3597008840604173435.post-73103154613687577512012-06-20T01:10:11.482+10:002012-06-20T01:10:11.482+10:00Great work. Last night, I wanted to de-case (remove) the movement from my Navitimer 806 and had lots of trouble doing it. I've removed watch movements from other chronographs, but I couldn't figure it out. What steps do you take after removing the winding stem, and removing the two screws on the bridge plates? I am not a professional watchmaker! I just wanted to clean out the inside of the crystal, clean debris from the dial and clean out some debris I can feel in the bezel as I turn it. Thanks again for a great article!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3597008840604173435.post-58854122172452708722011-02-23T21:41:22.900+11:002011-02-23T21:41:22.900+11:00I agree, pre-owned is a great way to go, especiall...I agree, pre-owned is a great way to go, especially if its in a mint condition.
