Finding North with a mechanical wrist watch

We talked about this not long ago, but there is no harm in talking about it again.

Lost and looking for North? It's simple.

1. Point the 12 o'clock marker in direction of Sun
2. North-south line is in the middle between 12'oclock marker and hour hand.

In this example: local time is 2pm so middle position between 12 and 2pm is where the North is.

Now, having a watch with rotation bezel is really handy, especially so if the bezel is hidden underneath the crystal. Which is exactly the case of this lovely 39mm SEIKO Alpinist SPB210J.

Fitted with 6R35 movement and water resistant to 200m the Alpinist belongs to the Prospex line of Seiko sports watches. And I just love that calf strap! Of course, being a J model means that it was manufactured and assembled in Japan.

Retail price: $1,250. Yours -today only - for just $899. This is a massive saving. In addition, you will get an extended 5 years guarantee and the chance to win Captain Willard Seiko as well.

By the way, this is what the 39mm watch looks like on my butchers hand. If you have a normal sized wrist, then it would be a perfect fit.
